The 2nd Devon Rifles

The rifle volunteer movement was a key part of mid-Victorian Britain’s military landscape, and we are proud to portray the 2nd Devon Administrative Battalion Rifles as they appeared in 1864.

Formed from civilian volunteers to defend the homeland, these part-time soldiers trained with discipline and dedication. Though often forgotten today, their contribution to 19th-century defence was significant.
